Pakistan's government allocated Rs30 billion to MSME development as SME financing surged 46 percent to Rs854 billion, reaching over 312,000 new borrowers in 2026. The sector now contributes 40 percent of Pakistan's GDP and 30 percent of exports, employing 80 percent of non-agricultural workers across 7.14 million enterprises. Bangladesh set a 2030 target to scale the CMSME sector's contribution to GDP from 25-27 percent to 35 percent, with state-owned banks expanding collateral-free lending and women.
