report published by SmartAsset ranked Fort Worth as the sixth-best city in the US, for women in tech. This city is located west of Dallas and last year was ranked 18th on the list. 

According to data, women make up 27.3% of the city’s tech force and have an average income of more than $52,000, after housing costs. This pay is quite close to the male’s earnings, especially compared to other cities. In fact, data suggest that women in Fort Worth earn 94.3% of men’s pay. 

The report took into account 52 cities and based its data on variables such as tech employment growth, gender gap pay, and percentage of women in tech

Fort Worth throughout the years 

Fort Worth has experienced a quick growth in its tech force. Between 2017 and 2020, the city has seen a tech employment growth of 26.5%.

Judy McDonald, executive director of Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, said: “Fort Worth has been very intentional about growing its tech workforce (..) We are pleased to get this recognition of our results.”

Other Cities

Arlington, in Virginia, was ranked number one by the report, while Washington D.C got second place. But Smart Forth was not the only city in Texas to make the list. In fact, Houston was ranked number third while Dallas and Austin got 43rd and 45th place
