Nowadays, communities often dictate the success of a product and not vice versa. This is why building a custom community has become a necessary step for the growth of every brand. Unfortunately, most of the time entrepreneurs have brilliant profitable ideas but lack the necessary tech skills to make their products visible to the right audience.
This is why female tech founder, Amy Sangster, decided to launch MemberUp, an all-in-one platform allowing people to build community-driven courses and membership sites, without dealing with tech.
The platform also features an INFINITE community idea formula, helping new entrepreneurs find their own profitable idea. “I wanted to provide the tools to support anyone, from anywhere, with any background, in not just creating a powerful community of their own, but a full-time income also,” said Sangster.
A cog in the wheel of society
Sangster studied finance and worked in a bank for years before realizing she was just one of the many ‘cogs in the wheel of society’. According to this female tech founder, our current society’s retirement model is inherently bound to fail. “Society says get a job, set aside a portion and invest it. In 40+ years you’ll have enough to retire so you can stop working for good”.
Sangster believes there are three problems with this model. First, it doesn’t work in most cases, second, it forces people to spend their best years trading time for money, and third, it is not designed to help us live a good life, but to be a cog in the wheel of society.
This is why she decided to leave her job and launch her own company. The turning point for her came after the painful loss of her partner Rob. “I vowed to never take another day for granted because I knew what it was like to be with someone fighting just so they could have one more,” said Sangster. She, therefore, started to share her struggles on social media and throughout the years managed to create a community of faithful followers supporting her work.
Helping other female tech founders
To people wanting to follow her entrepreneurial path, Sangster suggests joining Youtube “You can have the most incredible abilities, products or services, but if no one knows about you, you can’t help them.” She also recommends finding your ideal team and learning to embrace failure “Failure is a part of everyone’s journey. The sooner we stop trying to avoid it and learn to use it as feedback, the more success we’ll have,” said Sangster.
